How it works

Four steps from the first call to a decision

  1. Call or message

Tell me what is going on in a few sentences. If you have a court ruling, contract, cheque or messages, keep them close.

  2. I read the documents

I read everything before I give an opinion. I do not hand out ready-made advice without seeing the paperwork.

  3. A clear roadmap

Your options, the risks and the documents you need, said plainly, even when that means the case is a weak one.

  4. Action and follow-up

If you decide to go ahead, I follow the case through its stages and you stay in the loop.

Dealing with a case right now?

Some things cannot wait a day: appeal deadlines, payment deadlines, court dates. Call so you know from the start how much time you have.

How to choose a lawyer

How do you choose the best lawyer in Tehran for a legal or criminal case?

Most of us have typed "best criminal lawyer in Tehran" into a search engine and landed in a wall of ads. Instead of names and slogans, check these practical signs:

Verify the licence

Check the lawyer with the Bar Association or the Judiciary's lawyers' centre. If they dodge the question, walk away.

A written contract and a receipt

The fee, what it covers and any extra costs should be on paper, not just promised out loud.

No guaranteed results

No lawyer knows the verdict in advance. Anyone who says "I know the judge" is putting you at risk of a criminal charge. I have written about it in detail. Read the article on influence peddling (in Persian)

Documents first, opinion second

An opinion before the ruling and the contract have been read is a guess, not expertise.

Straight talk

They should name the weak points of your case at the start, even if it is unpleasant to hear.

Responsiveness

Staying informed about your case is part of the service, not a favour.

I hold myself to the same checklist and would like to be judged by it. If you want, a short call is enough to see whether we are a good fit.

About me

I am Seyed Mahdi Mousavi, a trainee lawyer in Tehran

My job is to read the file, explain the legal route in plain words, and stay with you as long as it takes. Most people who call are dealing with a court for the first time, and they deserve to understand what they are facing.

That is also why I write the articles on this site. If you know what stages lie ahead before you decide, it costs you less money and less stress.

FAQ

Questions people ask me most

If yours is not here, put it in the form or call me.

What documents do I need for the first consultation?

Anything connected to the case: contracts, cheques, court rulings, summonses, messages and earlier correspondence. If you have nothing at hand, that is fine; tell me the story and we will work out what needs to be collected.

Can the consultation be done by phone?

Yes. If you send the documents and an in-person meeting is not needed, I can review the case and advise by phone.

How do I find the best criminal lawyer in Tehran?

Skip rankings and advertising and look for practical signs: a verified licence, a written contract, a lawyer who reads your documents before giving an opinion, and no promises about the result. I explain this in more depth in the guide to choosing a criminal lawyer.

How much do a consultation and legal fees cost?

It depends on the type of case, the stage it is at and the amount of work, so I cannot give an honest figure without seeing the matter. We talk about cost on the first call, and if you decide to go ahead the fee and terms are set out in writing.

I live outside Tehran. Can I still hire you?

Yes. Cases are accepted from across Iran. We do the consultation by phone and you send documents digitally.

Is what I send kept confidential?

A client's secrets are confidential in the lawyer's hands. What you write in the form goes only to me and is not published anywhere.
